Ronald McDonald House Charities 50th Gala

RMHC | 50th Anniversary — “Golden Linings”

How we celebrated resilience, legacy, and global impact while raising a historic $76M for families in need

Navy Pier Grand Ballroom, Chicago | November, 2024

OBJECTIVE

In 2024, Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) marked a major milestone: 50 years of keeping families close during medical crises.

Operating in 62 countries, RMHC provides housing, meals, and emotional support to families with seriously ill or injured children.

The 50th Anniversary Global Gala, “Golden Linings,” was designed to honor five decades of care, showcase RMHC’s global legacy, and catalyze philanthropic support for the next 50 years. The cultural inspiration was Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold, reflecting resilience, healing, and the golden threads of community that help families emerge stronger.

“We’re 50 years young, and our work has just begun.” — Katie Fitzgerald, RMHC Global President and CEO

STRATEGY

Cultural Insight: Families endure intense challenges, yet the strength of community support creates enduring resilience.

Audience Behavior: Gala attendees, including philanthropists, influencers, and global partners, seek experiences that blend purpose, storytelling, and immersive design.

Platform Logic: A multi-sensory event connecting narrative, design, and performance would translate RMHC’s mission into an unforgettable, sharable experience.

Scalability: Story-driven design and immersive activations could extend into digital storytelling, press features, and ongoing donor engagement.
